The value of collaboration in business was already recognized in the 18th century; and yet some people still resist the idea, and many of us are still trying to shift from our individualistic mind-set, and command-and-control style of leadership.

‘Influence in business also stems from trust and genuineness in the way we relate to our boss, colleagues, and clients; and not from ‘manipulation’ or working only on our own agenda, instead of that of the team or organization where everyone (or more people and not just us) benefits.

Other traditional values which also create higher business productivity are trust, interdependence, genuineness, empathy, risk and success. You can find examples of how today’s successful business leaders are able to ‘influence’ their employees to work alongside the company in achieving its goals in Dianne Crampton’s collaborative team work book: “TIGERS Among Us: Winning Business Team Cultures And Why They Thrive”.

All the best in inspiring and developing better leaders!
